Dance

The dance program at Regents glorifies God through movement in an exciting, positive, and productive manner.  The program levels are designed to be cohesive in nature, thereby creating an overall program that builds upon itself and allows students to grow and challenge themselves with each year of participation.  All classes explore classical ballet, jazz, and a variety of other styles, which may include contemporary, hip hop, and/or precision dance.  Students will focus on building a strong foundation of proper technique in combination with stretching and strengthening exercises.
School of Logic Dance I (7th-8th)
Prerequisite: none

Dance I is an entry-level dance course that introduces and develops the fundamentals of dance from the ground up, all while improving fitness, strength, and flexibility. The first semester is constructed to instill proper dance technique and terminology, focusing mainly on ballet and jazz. Every class will consist of proper warm up and stretching, barre exercises, and/or across-the-floor progressions. Over the course of the second semester, students will explore additional genres and more advanced steps. They will also learn and rehearse choreography that supports varying dance styles and apply learned performance practices at both the Winter and Spring Demonstrations open to family.

Students will build on their previous knowledge of skills and techniques previously explored all while improving fitness, strength, flexibility, and performance. Every class will again consist of proper warm up and stretching, barre exercises and/or across-the-floor progressions, advancing in difficulty throughout the year. Students will continue to enrich dance vocabulary by exploring more advanced techniques and additional genres such as drill/precision dance. Each semester, students will learn and rehearse choreography that supports varying dance styles and apply learned performance practices in front of a live audience at both the Winter Demonstrations and Spring Show open to family.
