Raylin Hooks

Originally from Lumberton, Texas, Raylin Hooks, completed both her Master of Music degree (2021) and Bachelor of Music degree (2019) in clarinet performance from the University of North Texas.
Originally from Lumberton, Texas, Raylin Hooks, completed both her Master of Music degree (2021) and Bachelor of Music degree (2019) in clarinet performance from the University of North Texas. Her primary teachers include Phillip O. Paglialonga and Kimberly Cole Luevano. She has also worked extensively with Dallas Symphony principal clarinet, Gregory Raden, and Dallas Winds principal clarinet, Deborah Fabian. At UNT, she remained extremely active performing and recording with a number of groups, including the North Texas Wind Symphony, UNT Opera Orchestra, and UNT Concert Orchestra. Ms. Hooks is also a passionate educator, and has taught privately in the greater north Texas and southeast Texas areas since 2015. She enjoys coaching young clarinetists through performances and auditions, and as a result, many of her students have participated in the TMEA All-State Bands, All-Region Bands, and Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. As a performer, Ms. Hooks was recently awarded the coveted Stanley Drucker Award by Buffet Crampon CEO Francois Kloc, as well as participating in the Hot Springs Summer Music Festival, and more. She additionally is an active member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the International Clarinet Association, and Texas Music Educators Association. When not playing the clarinet, she enjoys reading, hiking, and rowing at Lady Bird Lake. Above all, Ms. Hooks believes as image-bearers, humans uniquely have a commission to create to the praise and glory of God.
