Kathy Young

SOL Drama
Kathy is an accomplished actress and teaching artist who holds an MA in Theatre Education from California State University, California and her BA in Theatre Performance from San Diego State University.  As a California native, she has over 25 years performing experience and over 10 years experience teaching and facilitating the arts to all ages in various settings.

Her passion is teaching and performing but extends into the realm of theatre outreach.  She took courses in applied theatre at CUNY in New York, where she was introduced to Forum and Applied Theatre. She was inspired by this theatre art form and believes in these  methods that use theatre as a medium for outreach purposes. She is specifically inspired to use this form of theatre with youth.

Being in Austin for 9 years now, she has taught acting classes at the Zach theatre, courses with ACC’s drama department, and was a teaching artist with Creative Action. She plans to continue growing her passion in theatre outreach  with Transformation Acting Studio, a new acting studio she started in the fall of 2020 for youth.

Kathryn is thrilled to be a part of the Fine Arts Regents family. She is passionate about integrating theatre education, outreach, biblical truth, and theatre history into her work.
