Portrait of a Regents Graduate
Stand on a Christ-Centered Foundation
Regents graduates go on to be culture changers and leaders in fields like technology and engineering, business, healthcare, law and government, art and design, education, nonprofits, and the United States Military. It is our hope that Regents graduates radiate Christ's love wherever they serve. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Col. 3:17)
Think Critically as Lifelong Learners
Regents graduates are equipped with the tools of learning — Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric — so that they may continue to master new skills and learn from others throughout their lives. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. (Proverbs 9:9)
Speak Well
Regents graduates are prepared to excel in the rigors of college and life because they embody vir bonus dicendi peritus, "the good person speaking well." Through a Regents education, which culminates with the senior thesis, graduates are able to effectively and convincingly form, convey, and defend a point of view. It is our hope that they will use this skill to further God's kingdom. The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip. (Psalm 37:30-31)
Pursue Excellence
Regents graduates are encouraged to live Coram Deo - before the face of God, under the authority of God, and to the glory of God - by pursuing a life of excellence that serves the Lord. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. (Col. 3:23-24)
Serve God and Man
Regents graduates have learned what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ. In all grades, students serve our wider community by wrapping gifts for children in need, serving meals to friends without a home, and working at a local food bank. It is our goal that Regents graduates live purposefully and intelligently in the service of God and man. For even the son of man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45)
Dr. Dan Peterson, Head of School
My hope and vision for our students is that they grow to be men and women who “turn the world upside down" (Acts 17:6).
