Sara Koen

Visual Art — Grammar
Sara Koen loves teaching art. She has loved learning alongside her students for over two decades in the classroom. She finds joy in helping students see ways to use their "art brain" to observe the world, and apply that knowledge to the art they create. She encourages kids to find the divine in the ordinary, and is grateful to spend her classroom time with such amazing artists. She spends her free time with her wonderful husband, daughter and two french bulldogs.

She is inspired by artworks across decades and genres such as the work of Bisa Butler, Paul Klee, Louise Nevelson, Henri Matisse, and Kehindy Wiley. Children’s books such as The Iridescence of Birds and Beautiful Oops are favorites, too.
