KNIGHTS STEP UP AT THE CRUSADER RELAYS

Assembled at full strength for the first time this season, Knights SOR Track & Field took aim at big throws and fast times in the Crusader Relays hosted by district rival St. Michael’s on Saturday, March 27th. Early highlights included a 1st Place in the Boys Discus by Carter Smith, and a 2nd Place in the Girls Shot Put by Abigail Strickland. Madison Wu turned in a good early season effort for 4th Place in the Long Jump as well.

Once the running events began, it was the Girls 4x100m Relay that set the tone. Wu, Cheyanna Frazier, Reese Donnelly and Anna Grace Newport finished 1st over Brentwood, St. Andrew’s and St. Mike’s. The Boys 4x100m Relay included Shep Dollahon, Gavin Reintjes, Wyatt Blazek and Whitefield Powell, with Powell blazing the anchor leg to tie Central Catholic at the line for 2nd Place.

Other notable efforts on the day included Kai O’Reilly, Chase Ueltschey and Emma Cordola trying the 300m Hurdles for the first time. The boys ran with the toughness we expected, and Cordola’s effort was good enough for a heat win and an overall 2nd Place. Aidan Isaac’s 4:57 in the 1600m was a sign of good things to come for the team’s senior middle distance leader, and Whitefield Powell went 10.98 in the 100m Dash for 3rd Place.

Full results can be found HERE. The Knights return to the tartan today, Thursday, April 1st, at the SACS Invitational in San Antonio.
