Sandy Schinetsky just finished her 3rd year teaching at Regents School of Austin and her 10th year of teaching overall. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Louisiana State University and taught in Louisiana public schools before moving to Texas. She currently teaches Algebra I, Geometry and Pre-Calculus; however, in the past she has taught 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade math. She was named Teacher of the Year in 2011 at her school in Louisiana and was a finalist for District Teacher of the Year. Although she loved teaching students in Louisiana, she chose to move to Ann Arbor Michigan to work in the Athletic Department at the University of Michigan as their Tutor Coordinator for student-athletes. When she became pregnant, she and her husband decided to move to Texas to be closer to family, and that is when she discovered and fell in love with the classical Christian community through Regents School of Austin. After teaching in a classical Christian school, she knows she would never be able to teach in any other environment, and she thanks God daily for the opportunity to discuss her Christian faith with her students daily in the mathematics classroom.

Mrs. Schinetsky is an avid NFL and college football fan where she roots for the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her daughter, Sophia ('35). She and her husband enjoy working out together along with eating fabulous Austin cuisine. She considers it such a blessing that she can be a part of this Regents Community. Mrs. Schinetsky feels that her spiritual life has grown exponentially since teaching here because of all the amazing teachers, parents and students God has placed in her life.

Taylor grew up in the Appalachian foothills of Chattanooga, TN. Surrounded by a family of believers, he came to know Christ more fully as a high school student through the youth ministry of Lookout Mt. Presbyterian Church and the thoughtful influence of his McCallie School teachers.

Taylor went on to graduate with Honors from Wake Forest University, earning a degree in Philosophy. His undergraduate studies have shaped him to appreciate and employ the fundamentals of reason--in service of Biblical Truth--as an important foundation for making sense of the world, past and present. While at Wake, he served on the leadership and worship teams with Reformed University Fellowship and spent a summer as a counselor at Alpine Camp for Boys.

Taylor has since completed the Trinity Fellows program in Charlottesville, VA and worked in the private sector before coming to Regents as a teacher. He looks forward to the privilege of guiding students in gospel-formed academic excellence and intellectual curiosity as they lay their foundation to become thorough and careful thinkers, keen listeners, and influential communicators. Taylor loves to fly fish, develop as a musician (guitar & banjo), and finds any opportunity he can to delve into a well-written book and discuss it at length with good company. He has been deeply influenced by the works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Leo Tolstoy, and C.S. Lewis, and his favorite books are Anna Karenina, Les Miserables, East of Eden, and The Abolition of Man.

Ann Taylor is full of thankfulness for the gift of teaching at Regents! As a child, Ann Taylor dreamed of the day she would become like her teachers, who encouraged and loved her well. The Lord’s way of bringing Ann Taylor into the classroom as a teacher has affirmed that His ways and thoughts are far higher than our own. It is truly a joy for Ann Taylor to teach young hearts and minds about the wonders of creation while shepherding them to our loving Creator! Outside of teaching, Ann Taylor enjoys walking, dancing and time with her family and friends!

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

Kristen and her husband, Justin, have three boys and they have been a part of the Regents community since their oldest was in Kindergarten in 2006. An R.C. Sproul radio show on classical Christian education sparked their interest and they had their sights set on Regents from the time their first child was barely crawling. Kristen and Justin so appreciate the rigorous education taught through a Christian worldview that matches the developmental stages of their children.

Having volunteered on campus for many years, Kristen is thrilled to be a part of this amazing staff and faculty who pray faithfully, strive for excellence, and seek the Lord as they serve the families of Regents through their extraordinary talents, passions and commitment.

Kristen loves this quote from Elisabeth Elliot: "This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness.” It's a reminder to Kristen that her primary job as mother to three boys requires daily dependence on Him and is exactly where He wants her to be.

I met my wife, Janet, while attending Texas Tech University and we married a year after we graduated. We moved to Amarillo, Texas where I served full-time on the staff of Young Life for four years before leaving to pursue graduate studies at seminary. My wife and I have four children, all of whom have attended Regents. Ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1996, I helped to pastor two different churches over 20 years of pastoral ministry.  I am currently leading a non-profit ministry that provides biblical counseling, equipping, and pastoral care to those in need in the greater Austin area.

Having spent most of my adult life serving, counseling, and pastoring youth and their families, it is a great joy to be able to walk alongside the students in the School of Logic with the Word of God and helping them to grasp just how wide and long and high and deep is the love of God for us in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I like this quote from Eric Liddell: “ I believe God made me for a purpose, but He also made me fast! And when I run I feel His pleasure.”  My favorite books are biographies and anything historical.  Favorite Bible verse?: Hebrews 12:1-3.  I find anything outside and reading to be pleasurable pastimes.

The first few years of Janet’s teaching career were spent in public schools in both Lubbock and Amarillo, TX. When each of her four children reached school age, she homeschooled them for the first few years of grammar school. Janet’s family has been a part of the Regents community since her eldest son entered fourth grade in 2000. She joined the Regents faculty as a third grade teacher in 2010, then began teaching fifth grade math in 2017. Janet loves teaching and watching her students grow in knowledge and maturity each year!

Quotes which inspire me: "Do the next thing," by Elisabeth Elliot.
"Keeping baggage from the past will leave no room for happiness in the future," by Wayne L. Misner.

Curling up with an inspiring or entertaining book is Janet’s favorite leisure activity.
Janet loves spending time with family and friends and taking long walks with her dog. Decluttering (her home, her files, emails, etc.) is also a very happy past-time for Janet.

After working in corporate finance, Brandon seized the opportunity to join the Teach for America program and teach Math in underserved schools for three years. He spent his first year teaching in the Mississippi Delta, leading a group of Algebra students to the highest test scores in the district, and his last two years in Indianapolis. Brandon attended a High School similar to Regents that had a profound impact on his worldview growing up. So, in many ways, he feels like he has returned home after a long journey. This is his ninth year teaching at Regents (Computer Science and Math). Almost every evening, you can find Brandon at home either playing or recording Bluegrass music on his mandolin.

Sarah grew up in Colorado where the purple mountain majesty takes your breath away daily. After attending a Christian liberal arts university in Oklahoma, she returned to Colorado to work as a high school French teacher. In 2003, Sarah married her best friend, Rob, and they began their journey of life together which has now included welcoming four beautiful daughters. Sarah was blessed to attend graduate school through New York University in Paris before her girls came along. Sarah began her relationship with the French language in a middle school language exploration class, continued to learn the language basics throughout high school, and went on to pursue acquisition as a French major in college, including a semester of studying in the south of France. The missions trips to France and Haiti opened Sarah's eyes and heart to the Francophone people in ways a classroom never could. Not only does Sarah's love for the language drive her instruction, but also her heart for communicating the love of God with those who speak French.

When she's not teaching, Sarah loves to bake delicious desserts. Sarah also enjoys cooking healthy food (probably to bring balance considering the yummy sweets she makes). Time spent creating in the kitchen is one of Sarah's favorite things to share with her daughters.
