    Fine Arts - Grammar Art
    Read Bio

Encouraged by family and teachers, Pattie started drawing and making art an early age. On her tenth birthday, Pattie received her first artist easel. She was so excited when she moved to Texas and could take Art as a high school elective. She later went to University of Texas and got her Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. She worked for several years as a graphic designer.

Pattie met her husband, John in college while working with high school students in Young Life. Later while raising 4 children, she taught preschool for 17 years creating Art with young children. She was also busy teaching Art camps and set design with church drama camps. She also worked with a kids’ puppet ministry for 25 years.

When not getting dirty with paint or clay, she is digging in the dirt, tending her garden where she loves discovering bugs, lizards, snakes or just the colors of the dirt…oh and the flowers too! She has 2 tarantulas as class pets.

Inspired by God’s creation, Pattie strives to spark curiosity and sharpen observational skills in her students by making connections to everyday life and learning, engaging them to see Art in everything around them, and inviting them into the creative process and pushing them to go beyond what they think they can do.

Beverly Finklea grew up in Richardson, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Biomedical Science and a Ph.D. in Genetics. Beverly taught freshman biology and sophomore genetics at The University of Texas from 2000 to 2015 followed by one year of high school biology at a co-op for homeschoolers. She and her husband, Ben, met at A&M and have been married for 28 years. They and their sons, Drew and John, sing in the choir and serve as a communion team at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Cedar Park. Drew, an Eagle Scout, is working in College Station and saving for school. John, a Life Scout, sings in the school choir and is on the wrestling team at Cedar Park High School. Beverly’s favorite activity is landscaping the backyard.

Biology is a beautiful science. It's fun to study the layers upon layers of complexity in living systems and to understand how all of the parts function together. The more we understand, the more cause we have to praise our Creator for what He has made.

What led you to come to Regents?
We came to Regents first as parents, in 1996 when my oldest son was entering first grade.  We have had four children attend Regents.  I began working here in 2007 when my youngest began first grade.

    What are your outside projects/accomplishments?
Our family runs a seasonal online bakery called Mrs. Fryes Croutons that began as a result of encouragement from Regents staff and families.

    What quotable quote inspires you?
"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."   Eleanor Roosevelt

What person had the greatest influence on you?
I have been so blessed  to have many people invest in my life over the years.  If I had to pick one, it would be my husband of 31 years Bill. His example of humility and forgiveness challenges me daily to live my life with an eternal perspective and to love others with a  generous heart (John 13:34)
