Bethany was raised in Hawaii. Growing up, her favorite pastimes included reading, hiking, rowing/kayaking, and baking together with her family. In school, she delighted in discussions; when she learned about the reading- and discussion-based Torrey program at Biola, it was an obvious choice. Bethany met her husband, Jake, at Biola during a select reading group hosted at a professor's house. They have been married since 2012, and their first son – Jonathan – was born in the spring of 2023.

After seven years of teaching elementary Latin at a small, classical Christian school in Hawaii, God called Bethany to leave the comfort zone of her home state and opened the doors for her to begin work as the 8th grade Latin teacher at Regents. Bethany was happy to find that she loves Austin, loves her school community, and especially loves working with her rambunctious eighth graders.
