Roberta grew up in Houston, Texas. She decided to attend the University of Texas in Austin and study mechanical engineering; after graduation, she was fortunate to work in the industry for seven years. First, at Compaq Computer, where she met her husband Dan. Not long after, they moved to Austin where Roberta worked at Dell Computer. At both jobs, she worked on the mechanical design teams designing desktops and laptops. Once Dan and Roberta started having children, she stayed at home to be with their three boys. She began homeschooling them when their oldest turned five years old. Each year they asked the Lord if homeschooling was how they were to be educating their sons. They continued homeschooling through their high school years. Roberta began teaching with One Day Academy (Christian enrichment classes) nine years ago. The last couple of years, she was teaching four days a week with ODA. Roberta taught every level of math from 4th grade to pre-calculus, elementary sciences, engineering classes, and two levels of physics. She discovered over the last few years that her teaching passion is physics. Therefore, she wanted to concentrate on that subject and dive in deeper. At home and in the classroom, Roberta has been blessed to be able to teach subjects she loves and to be able to intertwine it with God in our lives. Roberta looks forward to energizing students about physics and our Lord! There is nothing more satisfying then opening up someone's eyes to new possibilities and ideas!
